Say Amen, It's Saturday Night

After years of fangirling, listening to albums on repeat, I finally saw Panic! at the Disco in concert. I had been waiting for an opportunity to scream some of my favorite songs like "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" and "LA Devotee" in a giant arena for years, and it finally happened. Of course, singing along to "Bohemian Rhapsody" was a highlight of the night, and it was absolutely worth not having a voice the next day.
I don't know which part of this night was the best: standing less than 10 feet away from Brendon Urie, dancing like a crazy person while singing at the top of my lungs, or spending some much-needed bonding time with my amazing roommate. Something tells me it's the third one. After an intense week that I thought would never end filled with seemingly impossible tests and projects, I got to relax and have fun as a result of my hard work in the week prior.

This is my amazing roommate, Aubrey. Funny story of how we met: we sat next to each other in a class last fall, and I tried not to awkwardly stare at the Disney College Program sticker on her laptop. Eventually, I asked her about her program and told her that I did it before transferring to LSU, and it turns out she did the same thing before coming to LSU. Immediately, I felt a connection to her, and it occurred to me how small the world can be sometimes. One of our mutual friends was a member of my sorority and Aubrey's roommate in Disney. I couldn't believe that I actually found friends when I had been searching incessantly for good people the semester prior.
Standing outside after a meeting for AdFed, the LSU chapter of the American Advertising Federation, was where we decided to live together. I needed a roommate to fill my empty bedroom next door, and Aubrey needed to be closer to campus instead of commuting to and from home. I wasn't sure if she was serious or would actually go through with it. She came and signed the lease the next week.
Now, we're roommates, Manship buddies, Insomnia cookie junkies, and really great friends. It's crazy to me how life comes together sometimes and brings people we never expected into our lives at the perfect time. I hope that even as she flies off to new adventures (pun intended, Aubrey) that we'll remain close, send Brendon Urie's old Vines to each other, meet up in Disney for adventures, and never lose the unexpected and amazing connection we've made.
Despite waking up the day of the concert with a killer migraine, I'll forever say "amen" for this Saturday night spent with this wonderful girl. Here's to many more unforgettable moments in our "Roaring 20s."
